When Satan Hinders You

18Therefore we wanted to come to you—even I, Paul, time and again—but Satan hindered us. I Thessalonians 2:18

Satan’s entire modus operandi centers around his ability to hinder us from being effective for the Lord. He will use any means necessary to ensure that we don’t accomplish the purpose that God has placed within us. Often he will use discouragement and deception to hinder us and take us away from fulfilling our purpose.

Many times we get discouraged when we cannot see God’s plan or we don’t have an idea of how things will work out. Satan understands that discouragement can cripple us so he constantly places negatives in front of our eyes so that we operate out of sight and not by faith. What is discouragement? Discouragement is a dis-connect of courage (of course that’s not a literal translation but a Pricerized one!) Courage is the opposite of fear. A person exhibits courage when they are not intimidated by their opponent or circumstance and they face them head on – without fear. The child of God can have courage because he/she knows that regardless of what he/she faces or how things look, God is going to work on his/her behalf. We are disconnected from that courage (discouraged) when we look more at the situation than on God. Discouragement can hinder us from moving forward walking in our purpose.

Satan also hinders us by deceiving us. He causes us to believe that other people are our enemies, that things will never change, and that we don’t have the capability to do the things that God told us we could. There are many ways he deceives us, but we must know that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, that God can do anything but fail, and that He that hath begun a good work in us will continue to perform it until He comes! We must recognize the smokescreens of the enemy that are placed before us to hinder us!

What is hindering you? God has placed within all of us gifts and talents to be used for His purpose. He has a plan for each of us that He has already laid out and provided the blueprint through His Word. Are you operating within your purpose? Are you yielding yourself to the Lord so that He can fulfill your destiny? Or have you allowed Satan to discourage and deceive you through your fear, pain, anger or hurt?

It is time to stand strong, to rise up and take back the courage that God has given you. You are a child of the most High God. You are a part of a chosen generation, a peculiar people. You have greatness residing within you through the person of Jesus Christ. It’s time to push past the smokescreen and stand victorious! You have a destiny to fulfill! Stop looking at what you see and stand on what you know. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world! Satan may hinder you but he cannot stop you!
