11 For the sake of your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great. Psalm 25:11
Have you ever messed up so badly that you felt that even God couldn’t forgive you? I’m sure your answer is yes. We’ve all been there. Because we fight daily with our flesh to do what is right, evil is always present, as the Apostle Paul pointed out. There are times when we purposely cut off that Holy Spirit switch within us and do what we want to do, only to feel awful about it later. We can only go to God and ask that He forgives our iniquity for His name sake! Not because we deserve forgiveness, but only because of His name do we ask for redemption. We can only rely on the name of God and Who He is to wipe our slate clean. If we had to rely on our names we know that we deserve whatever punishment is necessary for our infraction. But thanks be to God who gives us victory through His Son Jesus Christ – the Forgiver of our sins. I don’t know about you, but I am so glad that Jesus paid for my sins, past, present, and future because I have nowhere else to turn for redemption!
Although your sin be great, our loving, faithful Father will forgive you for His name’s sake!
