Wait for the voice

Isaiah 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

Sometimes in this Christian journey we can become perplexed or uncertain about the direction that God has for us. It may be that we are not totally understanding what He is doing because He may not have revealed the plan to us, or it could be that He has told us what to do/where to go but we don’t really see how the plan will work or unfold. Regardless of how we may feel or think about the plan or how it will come out, it is so important that we not move without the leading of the Holy Spirit!

Recent conversations with others in ministry revealed a great deal of disallusionment or reticence as many are struggling with the calling of God upon their lives. Most of the hesitation and angst comes from the responses or actions of others – outside influences – which can certainly affect what and how we do what we do for the Kingdom. But it is crucial for us to wait until the Lord speaks, wait until the Lord guides and directs – wait until we hear His voice and instructions.

Isaiah 30:21 says that we will hear a word behind us telling us which way to go and to walk in it! We are often presented with many crossroads and the way we choose can have an enormous impact upon our lives. But we are not alone in our decision making processes – all we need do is Wait for the Voice! However, we cannot know what God says if we do not spend time talking with Him, communicating with Him, and fellowshipping with Him through His Word.

Ministry is hard work. Being a Christian can be a tough job! But no matter what you are doing for Him today – no matter what decisions lay before you – wait and listen for the voice. Stop listening to the many voices of other people (especially when given personal or ungodly advice), stop listening to the voice of the enemy and stop listening to your own whining and complaining! You have been and are being equipped for a service, God has sanctified you for His exclusive use. He is faithful and will let you know when to move, what to do and how to proceed. After you have been been given the thumbs up, after He has confirmed His Word for your life – Walk in the way (don’t stand in the way!) Listen, Wait and then Walk!
