I really don’t like to interject my political viewpoints in my devotionals and try to keep my comments geared toward biblical application. However, after some of the comments I heard yesterday, I am urging Christians to study God’s Word for themselves! Some Christians tend to think that the whole Barack Obama thing is somehow a sign of the times or things to come – as if Barack Obama is the anti-christ. Please, folks, know what God’s Word says about the last days. If you don’t study God’s Word, then you are not able to defend it or explain it and you could very well walk away with false information or be swayed by someone else’s ignorance.
I understand that the Book of Revelation might seem daunting to some, as it has a lot of imagery and information that must be studied carefully. Let me first say that Barack Obama is NOT the anti-christ. First you need to understand that the anti-Christ will come into power AFTER the rapture of the Church. Now one thing I do know is that the rapture hasn’t taken place yet, because I’m still here! Secondly, after the rapture, there is 3 1/2 years of tribulation – (during which folks that are left behind can still get saved) then there is 3 ½ years of great tribulation (during which no one can get saved- Revelation chapters 6-22) during which the anti-christ takes power and the end time approaches. These events are so deep that I cannot begin to try to contain them in an email, but I just wanted to address the “murmurings” that I’ve heard in the last few days about President-elect Obama as they pertain to biblical events. The many events leading up to the arrival of the anti-christ have not happened yet – especially and most importantly the exit of the body of Christ! Hallelujah!
I will admit that there are some things happening today that make us turn up our eyebrows and go “hmmmmm”. But we cannot predict or assume certain times other than what the Word already outlines for us. The Word tells us that we do not know the day or the hour –Jesus will come like a thief in the night. All the Christian can do is be ready and continue to lead others to Him. He told us to watch as well as pray – but also to study His Word and hide it in our hearts so that we might not sin against Him. The job of the Christian is to be found doing what He has called us to do in the interim. We don’t know when He’s coming, but we do know that He’s coming!
Please take time to study the Word so that you will know how God will usher in His kingdom. I know that a lot of preachers don’t preach the book of Revelation and as a result a lot of Christians have no idea what is to come. The entire Bible is for our edification and if you’ve missed studying Revelation- you have, indeed, missed some shouting moments! It is not to be thought of as scary or intimidating – it is actually a book filled with wonderful glimpses into the future of God’s Kingdom.
Anyone in the Birmingham area will be pleased to know that my husband has just started a series in Revelation (which he does every 3 years) in Bible Study. Contact me for details.
My encouragement for you today is to begin to dive into God’s Word – specifically the book of Revelation – so that you can be informed and enlightened.
