Psalm 105 1 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. 2 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. 4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
This morning most of us awoke to the anxieties and woes of the decline of the banking system, mortgage crisis and unemployment. People are scared and worried about investments, options, and every day living as these worries may trickle down to the average family. Of course I don’t have an answer or solution to these very real problems as neither does many of the “experts” in the field. But what I do know is that there is a connection that must be achieved in order to be able to ride the storm. That connection is between God and man – seeking God’s face. Yes, for some it may be hard to seek God when all hell is breaking forth around them and they feel as if they are drowning -but that is exactly the time when seeking Him is appropriate. He desires for us to fellowship with Him and give Him praise and honor – and not just when we are going through – but ALWAYS.
Regardless of the man-made problems we face and the irresponsibility that may or may not have caused some of these issues we face today – rising gas problems, food price increases, lack of jobs – regardless – God has been good to us! With all of the problems the US has, we are still blessed to be in a country where we are free – free to worship, free to make our own decisions, free to marry whom we want, free to live where we want. We must give thanks to God and let everyone around us know how good He is and how good He has been to us! We’ve got to praise Him in spite of the drama, in spite of the division we may feel right now in this election season, in spite of the war we are entrenched in – God is STILL good! We can’t continue on our own strength so we must look to Him for HIS strength and seek His face ALWAYS!
He has been a mighty good God to us and He won’t stop being good just because there are fewer jobs. He won’t stop being good just because gas prices keeps climbing up. He won’t stop being good because we have fewer extra dollars with which to do this or that! He is always Good! He is always faithful! And even if He doesn’t change the circumstances, He can change our perspective. In spite of it all, He is GOD and He is GOOD! Continue to seek His face ALWAYS!
