2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? Selah
3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
Psalm 4:2,3 (NIV)
Our lives are to represent Christ – that’s what being a Christian really means – to be “Christ-like”. Our actions, our countenance, everything about us should bring glory to Him. Verse 2 says, how long will you turn my glory into shame? Are we shaming God’s glory with our lives by loving delusions and seeking false gods? Would we rather please people than God? Would we rather seek money, fame, and power than seek and do God’s will for our lives? Sometimes we do things in the name of God but our true motives are selfish – we are deluded if we think that God is pleased. The psalmist says that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself! We belong to God and not to ourselves! Examine yourself. Examine your motives. Examine your actions and your countenance. Are you bringing glory or shame? You belong to Him – He has set you apart for himself! Represent Him Well!
