23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
The world leaves an incredible stain in our lives sometimes. It’s pollution can be found in many areas of our lives – leaving us with toxins and blemishes and many habits and behaviors unlike Christ – sometimes the effects are even unbeknown to us. In order to get the toxins of the world out of our system, in order for God to exfoliate those underlying lusts and desires out of us – He must search us.
David didn’t trust himself to see his own errors – He knew that God would do a thorough job – that only God could see even the things he could not. We must get to the point where we are naked and open before God and we allow Him to go in deep –cut through all of the personas and the smoke screens we’ve put up and search for anything in us that is not like Him. We can’t truly recognize the sin in our lives until God points it out.God sees the real us and we can see the real us when we look into the mirror of His Word. The only way to do that is to actually read it! We’ve got to do better in our study time and our prayer time so that the desires of our flesh won’t beat us out. Much of the reason why we are succumbing to our flesh is that we are not staying in God’s Word. We must allow God total access to our hearts so that if there is any wicked way in us (and believe me, there will be!) that He will show us, then we will go through whatever processes we must to repent and remove it and then God will lead us in the way everlasting! Oh, how we are free to praise Him, free to worship Him, free to serve Him, when we get the mess out of our lives!
Are you struggling today with unrepentant sin? Are you struggling and don’t even know why you are struggling? Ask God to do an examination, a surgical procedure on your heart today. Ask Him to search you and try you (know your motives) and your anxieties. Then He will be able to remove those things that are not like Him and lead you to the victorious life He has called you to!
