Don’t Be Weary

1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;

2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:1-4 (NIV)

Sometimes it is so easy to become frustrated when you see the unrighteous prospering and seemingly always landing on the top. Our society is so divided by the haves and the have nots and there is such a huge socioeconomic disparity that it is heartbreaking. Surely I do not suggest that everyone that is doing well or is prospering is unrighteous. That’s not the case, but then there are some…. We have cases and cases of ENRON type situations – where greedy individuals take advantage of others and prosper at their expense. We also see individuals that seemingly rise to the top by being deceitful and their lives seem glamorous at best. But the Word says Don’t fret because of evil doers. Don’t be envious of those that do wrong. Yes, they may have the Benz or the Mercedes, the gas prices don’t seem to affect them. The cost of groceries does not faze them. They can afford to send their kids to the best schools and involve them in all the available extra curricular activities. Yet their hearts are wicked and their souls seem black, but their day of reckoning is sure to come. It is not that we gloat that their payday is coming – but we trust that God sees all and will handle whatever it is that He needs to in His time.

What is our response? To trust in the Lord and do good, to delight ourselves in the Lord. Don’t be weary in well doing for in due season you shall reap if you faint not. No you might not get the riches or the lifestyle of the rich and famous – but God will take care of you! He will provide for you! You are His child and He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will provide peace in uncertain times. He will give you joy when life goes sour! Trust Him, Depend on Him.

Don’t be envious of the life of others – especially those that do evil – for God will take care of you and provide all your need according to His riches in glory!

Don’t Be Weary! Praise Him for His marvelous works! Don’t let anyone take away your praise!
