29 for our “God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:29
There are so many things today vying for our attention. Women, especially, wear many hats: mother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, caregiver, worker, business owner, the list is endless. The tasks associated with each title can easily overwhelm us. I was listening to a sermon on Sunday in which the preacher made an awesome analogy about women and men. He stated that men were like waffles and women were like spaghetti. Men are like waffles in that each waffle has many squares surrounded by walls, indicative of how men seem to compartmentalize things in their lives and will only concentrate on one thing at a time and attack problems one at a time. Women, on the other hand, are like spaghetti in that when you look at a plate of spaghetti there are many noodles intertwining and touching one another. Women seem to handle many tasks and problems at the same time. Doesn’t this ring true? We often have a lot of noodles on our plate!
Even in the midst of all of the things we are faced with, things we have to do, people we have to care for, the most consuming of our lives should be God! He is the consuming fire that captures our lives and allows us to do and be all of those things for everyone else! How can we do them without Him? Someone said “I woke up this morning and had so much to do I didn’t have time to pray” but someone else said, “I woke up this morning to pray because I had so much to do!”
Let the consuming fire of God’s presence, peace and provision be with you today as you are consumed by all of the things you need to accomplish today!
