10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. II Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV) Paul’s greatest asset was his weakness v. 10 –I welcome the infirmities, I’ll be content with them , the weaknesses, the reproaches (insults), necessities (hardships), persecutions or distresses. God is going to work through these issues in my life and his power will shine – He will incre
5 Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth. Psalm 31:5 Naturally when looking at this Psalm, your mind might go to the final words of our Lord as He hung on Calvary’s cross when He essentially exclaimed the same sentiment to His Father. We all know that David, the author of this Psalm, had reason to commit himself to God as he was on the run from Saul who sought to take his life. He had confidence that the God of truth would redeem him. We, too,
20 The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.
Psalm 18:20 All of us can recall the many times we’ve come in the house as children and our mother said, “Wash your hands!” By now it should be a habit for many of us and a practice that we have implemented in our homes with our own children. The same responsibility we have in the natural to washing our hands can be applied to our spiritual lives. What doe
16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
he drew me out of deep waters. 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
from my foes, who were too strong for me. 18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the LORD was my support. 19 He brought me out into a spacious place;
he rescued me because he delighted in me. Psalm 18;16-19 (NIV) Remember the 1960’s hit song, “Rescue Me?” I believe it was the Supremes who belted out the lyrics to the popular song. But
Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Hebrews 12:11 What does it take to grow in Christ? 1. Discipline –spiritual discipline is essential for Christian growth and development. Hebrews 12:11: At first it may be painful or grievous, but it will yield abundant blessings. For example, when you decide that you must lose weight, you begin to
20My heart is breaking with the longing that it has for Your ordinances and judgments at all times. Psalm 119:20 (AMP) The Psalmist had gotten to the point where he felt as if his heart was breaking because it longed for God’s Word at all times! WOW! Can we get to the point where we are so in love with God’s Word that our heart and soul longs for it – It’s more important than life – more important than brushing our teeth or combing our hair? Will it be so deep for us that it
3 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.” 4 “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. 5 But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.” 7 So Satan went out fro
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, II Corinthians 10:3-5 (NKJV) It is quite amazing that we, as Christians, are so quick to throw in the towel and give up. We that were bought with the
4 Indeed you fast for strife and debate,
And to strike with the fist of wickedness.
You will not fast as you do this day,
To make your voice heard on high. Isaiah 58:4 I know this sounds like a strange passage – but there’s a great lesson in it. God was telling the Children of Israel that their fasting was an empty gesture. They sought their own pleasure while fasting, they oppressed others, they quarreled and their fasting did not bring them closer to God but they thought
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. I Jn 3:16 Today 62% of adults will celebrate Valentine’s Day. Hey, let’s face it, even the children will be celebrating Valentine’s Day. We learn of this holiday while we are children – instructed to buy valentine’s cards for our classmates. Today you will look for some show of your loved one’s affection – candy, flowers, or a gift. It’s that time of
28“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? 29For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, 30saying, ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’ 33In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple. 34“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again
12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. 13Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinner
Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10(b) There are many things that we do on a daily basis that we don’t enjoy doing – they don’t bring us joy at all, but for whatever reason these tasks are necessary. It may be taking out the trash, washing clothes, cleaning up, or even some of the mundane things we seem to do on our jobs. Instead of joy – these tasks may leave us drained and empty. But Nehemiah says that the joy of the Lord is our strength.
One thing I know about God- He is able! It doesn’t matter what your situation looks like right now; He has the ability and the capability to turn it around for your good and ultimately for His glory! In the meantime, while you wait on a shift in your circumstances, make a sharp shift in your mindset. Focus your attention and your energy HIGHER! Pick up your countenance, reach for elevation in your thinking! Grab some joy and peace and belief that while He is working it out, y
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:11 David had a lot to worry about. He had committed some very grievous sins agains the Lord and he pleaded for the Lord to forgive him, restore him, and not turn His back on him. After receiving the blessing of God to be king, after receiving the praise and victory of battles won, David abused his power and committed adultery with a soldier’s wife, compounding that sin by having the soldier kille
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Matthew 5:8 What do you think it means to be pure in heart? I don’t think it means that you are perfect or that you never do anything wrong, but I think it points to the motives of your heart. Are you the type of person that would knowingly offend or hurt someone else? Some people just don’t care what they do to others. Some people can walk around and be totally oblivious to the needs or cares of others. I would classi
God is able to do just what He says He will do! If you desire restoration in your life – be it spiritual, financial, relationships, mental – He is a Restorer – He will restore the years the locust have eaten (Joel 2:25) – He is ABLE to do exceedingly and abundantly above ALL you could ask or think! (Eph 3:20) – He cannot and He will not lie! Don’t give up on God because He won’t give up on you! Stand on His Word – STOP looking at what it “looks like” or what it “feels like!”
There is so much power in the words we speak over our lives! It would behoove us to stop using “buzz words” that we hear others say just because they are popular and practice instead to use THE Word as a barometer for our situation! I am NOT struggling, I am NOT trying to make it – I am blessed and walking in favor (Psa. 5:12). I am NOT waiting on “my season” because every day I wake up I am reminded of God’s provision in my life, of His unending love for me, of His ability t
